Ads don’t fix a weak catalogue.

Titles, images, and attributes have to earn the click before media spend does. Marketplace growth starts with SKU discipline — not another campaign.

Four fields. That’s the SKU.

Tap a field — or the copper dots on the search card. Ads only amplify whatever is already true here.

01 · Title

The title has to earn the query.

Backend keywords stuffed into a brochure line do not rank. Lead with the product the shopper already typed — brand, type, the one differentiator — then stop.

Media spend is a multiplier. Multipliers need a number.

A weak title with a strong bid is still a weak title — you just paid more people to skip it. Catalogue is the conversion surface the auction cannot rewrite for you.

We see the same pattern every quarter: accounts that “need more ads” actually need parent-child mapping, image compliance, and attributes that survive a filter. Fix those and the same spend starts compounding.

If the listing cannot win the organic click, paid is renting attention for a page that already lost.

Treat the catalogue like inventory, not content.

Copywriters think in stories. Marketplaces think in fields. Title, bullets, backend, images, variations — each has a job. Mixing those jobs is how you get suppressed ASINs and “why isn’t this ranking” tickets.

A complete sheet is not pretty. It is specific: material, size, what is in the box, what is not a claim you cannot defend. That specificity is what browse and search both reward.

Do not scale ads on SKUs you would not show a buyer in person.

Pick the twenty SKUs that already convert. Make their listings undeniable. Then bid. Expanding spend across a dirty catalogue is how ACOS becomes a religion instead of a control.

Same product. Two titles.

This is what the shopper actually sees. Tap a row — one is a brochure, one is a listing.

Which SKUs can take spend?

Toggle the listings you would actually bid on. The stack is contribution if ads hit only the ready SKUs — not a vanity GMV chart.
